The Foundation Committee, has the dual role of raising funds for the Society and helping spend them, by developing the Society's support programme for surgical science. You have already received a questionnaire about the latter, asking you about the extent to which you would like to see the Society help develop research co-operation between members. There was a generally positive response to this suggestion, although only a minority of members replied. The Committee has proposed as a next step that the Society should draw up a database of current research expertise, interests and facilities amongst the membership, with the aim of fostering collaboration between members, and plans for this are being drawn up.
